If you want the full tour of the Small Giants world, this bag
is the best way to taste the best of our 3 product lines (insects, yeast and mussels) while you dive, page after page, into Pupetti's Tutto Matto world, guide in hand, to face the fearsome Wild Boomer.

Frequently asked questions

IS IT A MAGIC INGREDIENT?

No, but almost!
Insect flours, like cricket and mealworm flour, are naturally rich in complete protein, vitamin B12, iron, zinc and fibre. On top of that, their environmental impact is far lower than meat and fish. No tricks, just what nature already put on the table: a small ingredient with big benefits for you and for the planet.

IS IT A COMPLETE PROTEIN?

Yes!
Insect flours, like cricket (Acheta domesticus) and yellow mealworm (tenebrio molitor) flour, provide all 9 essential amino acids in the right proportions. That's why they're considered complete proteins, comparable to meat, eggs and dairy.

IS IT SAFE?

Yes!
As long as it's made by authorised producers. EFSA has already approved several insect species as novel foods, confirming they are safe to use in food. Cricket and mealworm flours undergo strict testing for microbiology (absence of pathogens), chemical contaminants (heavy metals, pesticides) and production process stability. The only caution is for people allergic to crustaceans, molluscs or dust mites, as reactions can be similar.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?

We've selected farms  that meet strict safety and quality standards. Our cricket flour comes from certified farms in Vietnam, while our mealworm flour comes from authorised producers in the European Union. Both have already been assessed and approved by EFSA.

IS IT SUSTAINABLE?

Yes!
Insect flours, like cricket and mealworm, have a far smaller environmental footprint than meat and fish: they need very little water and land, and emit a fraction of the CO₂. They're super-efficient at turning agricultural waste and by-products into top-quality protein. Our crickets are farmed in Vietnam, where the subtropical climate means no artificial heating is needed, and the product travels by ship, so emissions are practically negligible.

Frequently asked questions

ARE THEY A MAGIC INGREDIENT?

No, but almost!
It's the result of controlled fermentation. The most protein-rich strains of food yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) are selected and grown in large tanks, a bit like the ones used to make yogurt. The yeast is then heat-inactivated and dried. The result is a stable powder, packed with protein and B vitamins.

ARE THEY COMPLETE PROTEINS?

Yes!
Yeast protein contains all 9 essential amino acids in a well-balanced profile, with a good leucine content, which supports muscle protein synthesis. The more concentrated or isolated products reach quality levels comparable to the best traditional sources.

ARE THEY SAFE?

Yes!
It's basically an extract of an ingredient humans have been eating for thousands of years: brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Unlike regular yeast, here the yeast is inactivated, so it doesn't ferment in the body. In other words, this ingredient can't start fermenting during digestion.

ARE THEY SUITABLE FOR A VEGGIE DIET?

Yes!
Yeast is a fungus, so it's not of animal origin. That makes it 100% suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets. Unlike almost all plant proteins, it contains all the essential amino acids in really impressive amounts.

ARE THEY SUSTAINABLE?

Yes!
Production takes place in closed tanks, with very efficient use of water and land and extremely high protein yields. In practice, yeast turns molasses and other by-products of the sugar industry into protein. Its CO2 footprint depends mainly on the energy used for drying and on transport: with renewable energy and ambient-temperature logistics, the impact is extremely low.

Frequently asked questions

ARE THEY A MAGIC INGREDIENT?

No, but pretty close.
Mussels come from sustainable open-sea farming that needs very few resources and no feed. They pack not only protein but also plenty of micronutrients, like vitamin B12, iron and omega-3, so just a few grams deliver flavour and essential nutrients with a low impact.

ARE THEY COMPLETE PROTEINS?

Yes!
Mussels contain all 9 essential amino acids and have a good protein content (around 15% of the product), which supports muscle protein synthesis. They also provide significant micronutrients such as vitamin B12 (very high levels), omega-3 and iron, making them a nutrient-dense protein source.

ARE THEY SAFE?

Yes, absolutely!
Mussels are only harvested in authorised areas: the competent authorities continuously monitor water quality and only give the green light for harvesting when all parameters are within limits. In Galicia, farms follow very strict rules for farming and purification, so the mussels are constantly tested before harvest. After harvesting, the mussels are purified, steamed and packed following quality-control procedures.

ARE THEY SUITABLE FOR A VEGGIE DIET?

Not exactly, but they can be a great choice for anyone cutting down on meat.
By official definitions, mussels are animals, so they're not part of a vegan diet. That said, many people who follow a flexitarian diet or eat less meat for environmental or ethical reasons happily include them. Unlike almost all plant proteins, they contain all the essential amino acids in really impressive amounts.
Like all bivalves, mussels don't have a complex central nervous system like vertebrates, which is why they are not believed to be able to feel pain.

ARE THEY SUSTAINABLE?

Yes!
Mussels need very few external inputs to grow (no feed, little direct energy and no farmland), while providing protein and useful micronutrients (B12, iron, omega-3). This translates into an extremely low greenhouse gas footprint per kg of protein. They also provide local ecosystem services, for example boosting local biodiversity where they're farmed.
